Thread veins are extremely common and sometimes embarrassing, mostly affecting the face, body and legs.

The causes of thread veins are unknown although they may be caused by changes in temperature, smoking, hormonal changes, alcohol and prolonged standing as well as being a possible inherited condition. How it works:

The Cynosure Elite™ emits a prescribed dose of light energy to the vein which cause the blood within the vein to coagulate, eventually destroying the vessel which is later reabsorbed by your body. Blood flow will then be redirected to veins deeper below you skin’s surface, where it should be. The laser selectively targets the problem veins while sparing surrounding areas.

What can be treated:

The Cynosure Elite™ can remove unsightly veins from all parts of the body. Small facial veins can be treated quickly without bruising or complication. Spider veins and large blue veins can also be treated with excellent results. Knotty varicose veins are not good candidates. A careful evaluation with your provider will help you determine which vessels can be treated and the best course of treatment.

How many treatments are required:

Typically only two to three treatments are required and results can be seen in 3-4 weeks. Treatment time usually varies between 15 and 30 minutes, depending on the size of the area treated.

What it feels like:

The treatment causes only minimal discomfort. Any redness or swelling should be gone within a day and you’ll be able to resume most activities.

After the treatment: Post Treatment advice on veins

  • Apply ALOE  VERA GEL to the area to prevent drying and crusting. Aloe Vera Gel applied following the laser treatment can have a soothing effect.
  • Avoid hot baths/whirlpools for one week following treatment.
  • If a crust develops allow it to fall off naturally . Do not scratch or pick.
  • Do not shave for 1 to 3 days if blistering or crusting occurs.
  • Avoid exposure to the sun. Apply sunscreen with a SPF 30 or greater to the area whenever exposure to the sun is unavoidable.
  • Avoid exercises that can cause vasodilatation for one week post-treatment. Walking is encouraged.
  • If makeup is allowed, apply and remove it delicately. Excess rubbing can open the area and increase the chance of scarring.
  • Discomfort such as swelling or redness (lasting from a few hours to a couple of days), can be relieved with ice packs.
  • Please contact the clinic immediately if the treated area becomes tender and shows signs of infection.
